High School Football Starts Today!

Today begins the start of high school football with most schools starting double sessions before 9 AM. The weather will be rough the first week with temperatures expected to be in the mid-80's and low 90's.

One of the overlooked facts of football is that it is played and practiced in extremes. Monday's temps are expected to tickle 90, but look at video from one of MCA's last practice.

For the first time since 1993, Shamokin and Mount Carmel will have new head coaches in the same season. Dan Foor becomes Shamokin's 3rd head coach in four seasons and Bob Chesney takes over the Red Tornado hotseat from Mike Brennan. Dave "Whitey" Williams won a state title in his second season while Brennan won a title in his first.

When Dave Zielinskie was left go as head coach, Sam Schiccatano was hired has his replacement in 1993. As Zielinskie was let go after this past season, Schiccatano is back on the Indian sideline as an assistant coach.

Finally, let hear for the band!!!!
