Indians catch a "break"? Fannick out for the season

Well it is confirmed that Anthony Fannick, AAA player of the year in 2007, is out for the season with a broken bone in his foot. The loss for Milton is huge, but do not underestimate the Black Panthers the rest of the way in District IV.

Schuylkill League
Shamokin and Mount Carmel are not gone yet, but the new alignments are out for the Schulkill League. The basketball playoffs will go back to three division winners and wild card. Let's hope that Heartland Conference could develop a playoff that could rival the Schuylkill League.

Shamokin, Lourdes, Southern, plus MCA Grappling

Tonight the Shamokin Indian's begin their farewell tour of the Schulkill League taking on Marian Catholic at 6 pm.

Lourdes Regional will take on North Schuylkill in the finale. With wins by Shamokin and Lourdes the final will be an all-Northumberland County final. With a new league on the horizon for Shamokin area next season, this could be the only chance for a long time that the two storied programs get to meet in the postseason.

Pryor Watch
It looks like Terrelle Pryor delayed his announcement of a college for now. With his schedule, visits were hard to make. Penn State looks like they could be back in the picture. Oregon looks like they are out. In this day and age it is hard to tell.
Southern on Fire
The Southern Tigers qualified for the District IV playoffs with a win last week over Warrior Run. The win over Millville last night made the Tigers winners of 11 out of their last 12 and 7 in a row.
Mount Carmel headed to Hershey
Mount Carmel is headed to Chocolatetown, but football isn't the sport. The Red Tornadoes wrestling squad is headed for a second round showdown on Friday at 8 am with Mount Union. Doug Kraynak's big win at 160 punched their ticket.
A lot of work went into last night's triumph. This wasn't a win for just the off season. This result is brought about by years of hard work and dedication by kids and coaches on the elementary level.
Do you remember a wrestling match between Mount Carmel and Shamokin were only half of the bouts were contested. Both programs seems to be on a upswing and have some the solid ingredients needed to stay there.
