Northumberland County Controller Chuck Erdman Moving On

Northumberland County Controller Chuck Erdman has decided to resign effective February 13th to take a job in Governor Tom Corbett's administration.

Deputy Controller Tony Phillips will be acting controller until Governor Tom Corbett names a replacement.

Erdman won his first term as controller in 1997 and has been the controller for the past 13 years.  Always giving honest assessments of county finances, Erdman as controller was used by Democrat Vinni Clausi in a campaign ad back in 2007 drawing the ire of incumbent commissioners Sam Deitrick and Kurt Masser.  All of that seems like ancient history now.

The Voice hinted of this move back in November.  We wish Erdman well as he moves on to his future endeavor.

Northumberland Co. Republicans Break Number One Commandment

"Thou shall not bash a fellow GOPer."

In two local newpapers, 108th District Candidate Chuck Erdman discoverd someone was around digging information on him. It was someone who called himself Patrick Daly. Erdman had letters of disclosure delivered to two other candidates in the Republican primary race.

Speeding Ticket????

Digging for dirt????

Mr. Erdman has had a over a decade of public service and has worked admirably with administrations in the majority and minority including one of the other candidates in the primary. Is there any more to this story? I doubt it.

Erdman Makes it Official

Daily-Item Photo

With Merle Phillips retiring after 30 in the 108th Legislative District in PA, Northumberland County Controller Charles E. "Chuck" Erdman has announced his candidacy.

Trevorton attorney Antonio Michetti who twice came up short to Merle Phillips will decide in a few weeks. In past campaigns it was Michetti who has campaigned for the reduction in the size of the Legislature.

Although Erdman has been popular with voters as Northumberland County Controller, there has been trouble in his own party in the last commissioners race. Vinny Clausi was able to use public statements by Erdman for his own campaign advertising making a partial contribution to incumbent Samuel Deitrick's loss.

One of the big issues facing Pennsylvanian's in the next decade will be electricity. Here is a stirring letter by David Hughes of the advocacy group Citizen Power. It is very good insight to what the Pennsylvania legislature didn't do the last 10 years.
